1:15-2:30: THE STATE OF THE SUPPLY CHAIN: LOOKING BACK AND LOOKING FORWARD

This panel discussion of the state of Supply Chain Management will be moderated by Dr. Chuck Sox, University Chair of Manufacturing Management at The University of Alabama. Panelists will include Brian Gibson and Joe Hanna from Auburn University and John Langley from Georgia Tech.

Brian Gibson is a Professor of Supply Chain Management at Auburn University.  He received the Ph.D. in Logistics and Transportation from the University of Tennessee.  His primary research interests are in the area of supply chain training & development, performance analysis, and retail logistics. Dr. Gibson serves on the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Education Strategy Committee, the Retail Industry Leaders Association Logistics Steering Committee, and the executive board of the Distribution Business Management Association. 

Joe Hanna currently serves as Department Chair and Professor of Supply Chain Management at Auburn University.  Dr. Hanna is active in the undergraduate and graduate programs and also participates in Auburn?s executive and customized MBA programs.  In addition, he is active in executive education, having performed supply chain education and consulting tasks with several firms including Pratt Whitney, Hyundai, Menlo Logistics, W.C. Bradley, Fortna Supply Chain Consulting and others. 

John Langley is The Supply Chain & Logistics Institute (SCL) Professor of Supply Chain Management and Director of Supply Chain Executive Programs. Dr. Langley serves as SCL's principal liaison with the logistics and supply chain business communities, teaches in executive education programs including the Executive Masters in International Logistics program, and serves as Faculty Director of the Georgia Tech Supply Chain Executive Forum.

6:00-9:00: BTTC Annual Dinner

The featured speaker for the annual BTTC dinner is Bob Costello of the American Trucking Association. Bob is the Chief Economist and Vice President for the American Trucking Association (ATA), the national trade association for the trucking industry. As Chief Economist, he manages all of ATA's collection, analysis and dissemination of trucking economic information. This includes several monthly trucking economic indicators, motor carrier financial and operating data, an annual freight transportation forecast, driver wage studies, weekly diesel fuel price and economic reports, and a yearly trucking almanac.
